Delivering with Sustainability – Mainfreight and the FUSO eCanter

Mainfreight eCanter TruckWe continue to invest across all aspects of sustainability that may have an impact on our organisation, our people, our community and the environment. Our latest venture sees us adding to our electric vehicle fleet with two new FUSO eCanter electric trucks.

You will see these trucks around the streets of Auckland city delivering to all our customers across many different business sectors.

Driving sustainability

eCanter, created by FUSO one of the biggest manufacturers of commercial vehicles in the world, is a 100% electric-powered light truck with zero on-road emissions. Key features of the eCanter are –

  • 81kWh Lithium ion battery with 120-150km range and can be charged to 80% in under an hour

  • 135 kW of power, an electric motor with two-stage regenerative braking

  • Payload of 3.5T

  • Lower Running Cost

  • Advanced Safety Features

Zero Emissions Area (ZEA) Trial

The Zero Emissions Area is the densest part of the Auckland City Centre that regularly exceeds air quality limits. Motor vehicle traffic is one of the biggest contributors to poor air quality within our cities. The ZEA trial is committed to reducing the air pollution in the CBD by moving towards emission-free transport.

We have joined forces with FUSO, EECA, Auckland Transport and other supply chain providers to help kick start this trial.

Our Sustainability Impact

Our 100-year vision has been a guiding principle in our commitment to sustainability. Decreasing our carbon footprint is a key objective for us. By investing in real solutions such as electric vehicles, it takes us one-step closer to reducing our carbon output.

Our approach to sustainability

Our team culture means sustainability is not a top-down directive or bureaucratic process, but is driven from the ground up, by teams that are empowered to make their own decisions. It is they who take responsibility to make their branch, their business, and their world, just that little bit better today than it was yesterday.
