Update Summer 2021

In our spring update we already informed you about a number of developments that could lead to delays in the delivery of your shipments. As a result, as a customer you are better prepared for the consequences. We would like to thank you for the understanding you have shown for the sometimes undesirable situations that have arisen. We appreciate it very much.

Unprecedented high supply

In contrast to previous years, when after the holiday period in the spring, the offered freight volume again balanced the available capacity, we are currently seeing an unprecedented high supply of shipments in almost all of Europe. In the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany, various cross-dock locations are receiving such large volumes that they are becoming overloaded, despite the measures that have already been taken (deploying additional staff and trucks and hiring additional locations).

Forecast

Of course, our team, together with our partners, is making every effort to minimize the inconvenience to our customers. Reality compels us to mention that we cannot avoid that groupage as well as part and complete loads may be delayed. It is expected that the outlined situation will continue for several weeks at least.

Holiday period

We will almost forget it because of the busy times, but the holiday period is almost upon us. Traditionally, we are faced with delays and reduced departures in various countries due to, among other things, driving bans and reduced capacity in the transport network. For a detailed overview of the known delays, please visit our holidays-overview page.

Italy

In Italy it is common that many companies are closed in August so we have fewer departures to and from Italy.

Exports:
As of July 28, the holiday period starts for export shipments.

Imports:
As of July 26, the holiday period for import shipments will start. Our last departure from Italy will be on Thursday, August 5. Pickups for shipments larger than 2800 kg (volume weight or actual weight) will only be done after consultation.

Please take into account when registering shipments that the unloading or loading address in Italy may be closed. As of Monday, August 23, exports and imports will resume.

We will continue to do everything we can with our entire team to get shipments delivered as agreed. We hope for your understanding and if your shipment is very urgent please contact your contact person or our customer service team customerservice@nl.mainfreight.com / +31 (0)314 671 111. We will be happy to discuss our options with you.
