Message from Kiwirail

This afternoon as flood repair work was being tested with weight on the network, we identified significant instability along a section of the weather-impacted track. Our engineers will be working overnight and into tomorrow to design the fix, with our Networks team building the design from Sunday.

As a result, the earliest that the NIMT will be able to re-open is Tuesday 21 October.

Our next update will be on Sunday afternoon, indicating the status of the track and how the repairs are progressing.

Whilst not foreseeable, we recognise that the timing of this update is extremely unfortunate. We will be in touch with you to understand your freight requirements and discuss alternative arrangements.
