Service Announcement | Sydney Operations Update | January 2022

It is important we keep you informed of the service challenges facing our Sydney, Prestons Transport branch.  As you will be aware, there are significant disruptions to supply chains nationally caused by absenteeism due to the Omicron variant. Our Sydney branch has had a number of team members needing to isolate due to COVID infections which has overloaded our operations teams beyond their capacity.  The result is we are experiencing significant depot congestion.

In order for us to clear our Prestons facility bottleneck, we need to pause receiving freight in Sydney so that we can move the backlog and create dock space that is needed to handle your consignments.

We apologise for the inconvenience this will cause. We haven’t made this decision without considering the impact on our customers and their businesses.  The reality Is that if we do not take this decision now, our Sydney operation will remain congested, potentially resulting in delays for an extended period of time.

What does this mean for you:

  • For our Sydney based Prestons customers sending freight locally, intrastate or interstate, we will pause pickups on Friday the 14th and Monday the 17th of January.
  • For our customers located outside of Sydney, will we pause collection of any freight that is consigned to Sydney and is delivered through our Prestons branch. This will also take place on Friday and Monday.

We will be using this time to deliver the local consignments and load out linehaul nationally with the freight we currently have. We will also have team coming out of isolation in the next five days that will return to work.

Prior to Christmas we secured a large supply of Rapid Antigen Tests. We are currently using these nationally for close contacts to keep as many of our team at work as we can.

Again, we apologise for any inconvenience this may cause, but we do ask for your support as we navigate through this next challenge. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact your local branch team.
