Mainfreight Belgium receives prestigious Gateway²Britain certificate for trade with the United Kingdom

In the presence of Flemish Minister of Economy, Innovation, and Agriculture, Jo Brouns, Mainfreight had the honour to receive the prestigious Gateway²Britain quality label. Launched by VIL to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in trading with the United Kingdom, this label represents significant added value for both Flemish companies and Mainfreight. Mainfreight considers the Gateway²Britain project a crucial and welcome initiative. With the support of Gateway²Britain, we are determined to delight our customers, alleviate uncertainties, and guide them on the path to the United Kingdom.

The recent challenges in the trade landscape after Brexit have affected Flemish companies. Particularly, SMEs faced significant obstacles due to more complex logistical processes and required documentation for customs clearance, resulting in higher administrative and logistical costs.
The Gateway²Britain project, financially supported by the European Union, includes the establishment of physical service points to assist SMEs in their logistical challenges. Flemish companies can quickly find a logistics partner through this initiative, relieving them of administrative activities and the complexity of transport to the United Kingdom.

Creating additional value

As one of the first logistics service providers to receive the Gateway²Britain certificate, Mainfreight has proven itself as a reliable and expert partner for trade with the United Kingdom. During the certification process, both transport and customs activities underwent a thorough audit, rigorously evaluating critical aspects. Even after Brexit, we are more prepared than ever for an emerging volume in our transport sector activities directed toward the United Kingdom. For us at Mainfreight, the registered quality label of Gateway²Britain emphasizes and strengthens our reputation and reliability. It creates additional value in a competitive market, where our customers are already assured of the highest standards and consistent quality in all our services.

Our in-house customs team

Mainfreight's success in achieving the prestigious Gateway²Britain certificate reflects and confirms the hard work and tireless dedication exhibited by the entire team over the past years. Even in the challenging period immediately after Brexit, we remained determined to provide our customers with the best service. We continuously strive for growth and constantly seek new ways to enhance the quality of our services. A great example is our in-house customs team, enabling us to engage directly with Belgian customs, allowing us to act promptly and effectively. More frequently, parties come to us with specific requests, and we always aim to provide a fitting solution.

Besides the quality label, the strong presence of Mainfreight in the United Kingdom is an additional advantage for current and new customers. Mainfreight is represented there by its own branches, customs brokerage teams and drivers, resulting in direct support for customers in the region. Our global presence forms a solid foundation for smooth handling of transport and logistics. This integrated approach enables us to act swiftly, leveraging local expertise and global connections to offer our customers a comprehensive and efficient service.
