Pallet and Packaging types

Below you will find information on the pallet and packaging types we most commonly handle. This guide outlines the key specifications, exchange options, and important considerations to help you choose the right solution for your shipment.

Euro Pallet Specifications

Euro pallets measure 800 x 1,200 mm, weigh around 25 kg, and can carry up to 1,000 kg when in good condition. Genuine Euro pallets are typically marked with official identifiers such as EUR or DB.

Identifying Fake Euro Pallets

Some pallets are incorrectly marked as Euro pallets despite not meeting the required standards. These imitation pallets often have thinner wooden boards and are treated as one-way pallets, making them ineligible for exchange.

Countries With Euro Pallet Exchange

Euro pallet exchange is available in the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. Outside these countries, pallet exchange is generally unavailable, meaning pallets may be considered lost after delivery.

PKP Pallets No Longer Accepted

Euro pallets bearing the Polish Railways (PKP) mark are no longer accepted within the official pallet pool. Due to quality concerns, these pallets are considered trademark imitations and may be removed from circulation.

Block and CHEP Pallets

Block pallets are commonly sized at 1,000 x 1,200 mm and can carry up to 1,250 kg. CHEP pallets have similar dimensions but are rental pallets, making exchange more difficult.

Gitterboxes

Gitterboxes are durable steel transport containers with a payload capacity of up to 1,250 kg. They must comply with DIN 15155 standards, and exchange systems for both pallets and gitterboxes exist in several European countries.
