Impressive Rigs cruising around Palmerston North

Impressive Rigs cruising around Palmerston North

Over 100 volunteer drivers and their Big Rigs were on display this weekend at the Manawatu Big Rigs event. This event is held every 2 years and 100% of this year’s profit will go towards supporting Teenage and Child Cancer within the Manawatu. This year they’re hoping to raise over $40,000 from truck rides, auctions, raffles and food stalls. For each event they have poster kids, this year they were Sophia Prentice and Ricco Vanbeek. Both have gone through treatment for cancer.

Our team in Palmerston North play a big role in the event and have done for over 14 years. We had four units taking part this year. Matt Sherlock and his drivers always get behind and support this event, their rigs are very popular with truck rides. It takes a lot of work to get these units looking amazing and unfortunately the truck wash bay at our Palmerston North Depot was out of action so all four trucks were washed and polished in Matt’s own home!

A lot of why they do this is to remember their team mate Robin Jago, who unfortunately passed away a couple of years ago and was also on the Bigs Rigs committee

Photos and videos from the event can be found on the Manawatu Big Rigs Facebook page.
