Ship ahoy! Unique shipments in practice

How do you transport a 241 year old ship model, worth € 29,000? Private individual Mr. Gerrit van Kolthoorn ran into this challenge in January 2012. Buying is one thing, but getting the replica without dent or scratch from Boston (USA) to Elburg (the Netherlands) is a second.

Special replica

The ship model is a 241 year old replica (1:48 scale) of the type 24 cannon ship. The model is in excellent condition and has the original color. The original ship probably sailed between England and India.

Private shipment with Mainfreight Special Services

After a search for a suitable carrier, Gerrit arrives at Mainfreight Special Services. The goal to unburden the customer and the cooperation between our airfreight department and Special Services appeals to Gerrit very much.

All-in

After internal consultation between the Airfreight division of Mainfreight and the team members of Special Services, an all-in rate is offered. The all-in rate includes the pre-routing, the flight, the post-routing by courier, transport insurance & customs formalities. After all preparations, this special transport is started immediately.
