You are responsible for the correct and timely completion of various customs formalities for import, transit, export and storage of goods. As a customs broker you have a dynamic and responsible role within Mainfreight and you have frequent contact with our internal and external customers.

The role

Preparing and filling customs forms for international shipments is your foremost duty. It’s important that you have extensive knowledge of the goods that are being shipped or received so you can ensure that the business has filled out all necessary forms completely and accurately. You are responsible for organizing and classifying shipments using the tariff coding system. Using this same system, you determine and issue duty, tax, and tariff payments for our customers’ imports and exports and resolve issues related to over- or underpayment of taxes and duty. You play a central role in maintaining shipping records and tracking international shipments to ensure that they arrive and get to action to solve it when there’s delays. Last but not least, you need to maintain up-to-date knowledge of current rules and regulation regarding international tariffs and trade laws. You follow the developments in rules and regulations and analyze them to determine their effects.
