Update - South Island Road Closures | December 2019

Thursday 12 December 2019

A brief update concerning road and rail closures in the South Island:

We are pleased to advise the resumption of normal road services with the opening of SH1 at Rangitata North of Timaru last night.
Rail teams are working diligently to repair extensive damage to the Rangitata rail bridge where they have indicated the resumption of services in a few weeks.
As a result, we have deployed additional road capacity to service lower South Island seasonal volumes until rail services resume. Contractors repairing SH6 on the West Coast have managed to open the road with restrictions in place.

We will keep this news story updated as more information comes to light. If you require further information please contact your local branch.
