Shanghai Lock Down

Over the weekend we have been advised by our local China team that the Shanghai region will initiate a two stage lockdown and Covid -19 testing regime due to an increase in Covid-19 infections.

The China Government advised Sunday (27/3) that they would divide Shanghai into two regions, PuDong and PuXi. The PuDong region, will be locked down and undergo testing between March 28 and April 1. The PuXi region will be locked down and tested between April 1 and 5. It also advised that all companies and factories will suspend manufacturing and/or work remotely during the lockdown, apart from those involved in offering public services. We recommend all customers to reach out to their suppliers and customers in Shanghai to understand the overall affect to their operations.

While airline terminals and ports remain operational we expect this lockdown to have an effect on shipments in the coming weeks, mostly due to restrictions on workforces.

If you have any questions to how these cost adjustments will affect upcoming shipments please reach out to your local Mainfreight Account Manager.
