Our Latest IT System released in the USA

Mainfreight’s latest IT system went live in June 2013 without a hitch. The system named Mainstreet is used by our internal team in the USA for domestic transport. Drawing on 25 years experience developing our existing freight system in New Zealand and Australia, this new system has been built from scratch, taking two years, $3.5 million dollars and team in three countries to put together.

Our customers will not see the system directly, though the focus on flexibility, quality and efficiency will offer:

  • Flexibility in the technology solutions we provide our customers
  • Increased reporting capabilities
  • Greater ability to add new features as technology or customer needs change

This system will allow our entire Team in the United States to monitor the entire shipment process from the pick up right up to the invoicing process. We have also added intelligence where users automatically see important ancillary information in many functions. One example, having the ability to see the current weather forecast in any location in the USA, allows us to inform customers on the spot if their freight movement has be affected by the weather.

The culture within our business is to always want to reinvent and make ourselves better than before. With the success of this launch in the USA, the new system will be expanded to other markets starting with New Zealand and Australia in the next 18 months.
