Mainfreight hosts students from Cal State Long Beach and the University of California Irvine

Our relationship with local colleges and universities started almost 10 years ago when Mainfreight committed to have it National Support Center in Southern California.  Recognizing how important it is to reach out to local students, Mainfreight recently had the honor of hosting local university students from Cal State Long Beach and UC Irvine.

Sharing industry, Work and Life experience has always been a part of Mainfreight Culture.  Continuing on this tradition, Mainfreight Los Angeles hosted the Cal State Long Beach SAM Club (Society for the Advancement of Management) on site. This group of Future Leaders were able to learn about our unique business culture and how Mainfreight has managed to be succeed in a global market place while still holding on to our core values and three pillars that guide everything we do. Touring the site gave the club the chance to see the scale of our warehousing operations as well as the business culture in play, such as our open plan offices to encourage team members to openly communicate and work together.

Because Los Angeles is home to several colleges and universities, Mainfreight Los Angeles also had the priviledge to host a student from University of California Irvine for a work experience day. Our guest student was able to spend time with our Air & Ocean & Logistics team learning about global supply chain, how goods make it from port to a consumer and what a day in the life of a Mainfreighter is like (including sharing in our delicious Birthday celebrations for the month!)

Providing guidance, insights and advice to college and university students is just one way Mainfreight is giving back and participating in our local communities.  Our fabulous Mainfreighters have also performed practice job interviews, represented Mainfreight on advisory panels and attended speed networking events. We truly appreciate the opportunity to advise and help our local college and university students with their transition from learning in a class room to the hands on knowledge that comes from working with their neighbor, Mainfreight USA!
