Driver recognised for 13 years of voluntary service for kids

We would like to share a story about one of our proud truck drivers in Hamilton, Wayne Goodwin. Wayne was recognised with the Outstanding Community Service Award from The Life Education Trust for his 13 years of volunteer work in moving mobile classroom for kids with his 40ft semi school trailer.

He has dedicated his own time and cost to encourage generations to embrace positive choices for a healthy mind and body. Last year, he made it possible for 6,000 kids to take part in lessons with Life Education’s specialist health teacher over 27 different schools. mobile classroom for kids

He said it does require a lot of time and effort but the reward is worth it. “When I arrive at school, the kids are so happy. Seeing the look on their face makes my day, you cannot buy that with money”, said Goodwin.

2017 marks 10 years partnership between Mainfreight and The Life Education Trust. We will continue to support children’s education and volunteers like Wayne to make our community better.
