Do you import wooden articles?

If those wooden articles are highly processed they may be on the new list of low risk products that can be released with minimal biosecurity intervention.

Find out if your products are on the low risk list here.

You will need to supply any of the below declarations forms stating / proving that your cargo are highly processed / manufactured wooden articles.

  • Manufactures declaration
  • Suppliers declaration
  • Commercial invoice declaration

These declarations need to be consignment specific and where possible describe the manufacturing process to guarantee release without treatment.
Should you need further clarification please consult your local Mainfreight representative or Customs Broker.

 

How to declare overseas freight and insurance on customs entries | New Border-force rules

If you are importing sea freight it is mandatory to declare freight rates and insurance for tax/duty purposes. The current accepted industry standard allows us to use .25% of the value of the goods when the actual numbers are not known.

Increasing from .25% to 10%

Borderforce are now demanding the actual figure to be declared. When it is unknown we are required to use 10% of the value of the goods.

How to avoid using 10%

We need you to contact your suppliers to show the % or premium amount on the commercial documenta-tion for us to use, otherwise we will need to use 10% as demanded by Borderforce to avoid any penalty situation.

If there NO marine insurance is purchased then we can apply a ZERO %.

So if you complete the attached declaration questions that are applicable, sign and return we can keep on file should we require to provide to Borderforce in an Audit situation.
