New Freight Hub - Mount Maunganui

A new intermodal freight hub is opening in Mount Maunganui providing more options for Bay of Plenty importers and exporters.

The network of intermodal freight hubs in Auckland, Manawatu and now Mount Maunganui will offer regional exporters a seamless and flexible service to their overseas customers via, the Ports of Auckland.

The new freight hub will also reduce the large amount of empty container movements and have a better balance of the volume of exported goods with imported goods moving through the Auckland port.

Based on Triton Avenue, 1.4 hectares will be developed initially, with additional land providing option for further development in the future. A rail siding runs along the site, which will be developed to include rail connections and container handling facilities. It is expected to be operating by the end of 2015.

Further information can be found on the Ports of Auckland website.
