SPECIAL PEOPLE

Training Centre

In an industry first, Mainfreight opened a dedicated Mainfreight Training Academy in 2004. This major commitment reflects the forward thinking and innovation which is helping us create a 100 year company.

The Training Academy’s simulated working environment provides practical training in freight handling, along with modules on customer service, in-house computer systems and specific dangerous goods and fork hoist skills. In addition, each group spends one half day learning about Mainfreight’s unique culture and philosophies.

The training schemes have been developed after wide consultation across the Group and with input from various levels to ensure that both the hard skills and softer values of Mainfreight are well understood and applied.

As a result, managers within the group are experiencing graduates returning from training with greater enthusiasm and commitment and a real understanding of the processes and requirements of their roles. They also realise they belong to a company which values its people and gives them an opportunity to contribute to its success.

Our quality training is about promoting skills and awareness that reduces accidents and errors and maintains productivity and a genuine caring for each other.

At the conclusion of their training, graduates attend a ceremony, often along with senior management. They are awarded their diploma, given a presentation on the direction of the business and the Mainfreight book.
