Consignments are tracked by use of Barcode technology where the consignment is recorded at six points along a consignments “life cycle”.

• Time of pick up
• Time received into Sending Branch
• Time of dispatch from Sending Branch
• Time received into Receiving Branch
• Time of discharge for delivery (time freight is ready for delivery)
• Time of delivery

The Mainfreight Group operate Palm Pilots in all vehicles nationally. Each consignment is scanned on pick up and delivery, with the information downloaded instantly to the host system.

This allows the customer to receive real time information on the status of their consignments in transit.

A recent upgrade of our track and trace facility now enables our customers to view the name of the POD signatory on this screen also.
