SPECIAL PEOPLE
Coming from a logistics and warehousing background I saw Mainfreight as not only an opportunity but also a challenge that I believe I was ready for.
I started my Mainfreight career in March 1995 at Mainfreight Logistics Morrin Rd Panmure, as a storeman under the guidance of Scott Collings and Kiu Muller. Under their tutelage I learnt the value of a hard days work more commonly known as “old school” where you continued to work regardless of time, etc until the job was done. This work ethic that was instilled in me has provided the basis for my own growth and development within Mainfrieght. It wasn’t to long before I was made supervisor which bought about new challenges and responsibilities.
Mainfreight Morrin Rd was on the move and we relocated to O’Rourke Rd Penrose. This shift provided pathways for senior team members to branch out and encompass other opportunities elsewhere within the Mainfreight group. Here I was faced with new challenges but was fortunate enough to still have the support and guidance of Kiu Muller. Due to the size of the new site changes were afoot, time, workload, and deadlines were necessary to keep up with our growing clientele. This is where I meet and worked with the branch manager Terry Cunneen, who was always there supporting, helping and advising the team.
As the years rolled on another opportunity presented itself and before to long I was teaming up again with my old mentor Scott Collings. Scott was operations Manager of the Mainfreight Metro Transport Division which was located at LEP International Airport Oaks. Here I learnt new skills which have enabled me to progress further still. I am currently working at the new Metro site in Westney Rd Mangere where I am Operations Manager and in my spare time despatch. I feel fortunate to work with a team whose knowledge, skills and expertise keeps our site running smoothly.
Mainfreight has provided me with opportunities to grow, improve, and develop both personally and professionally. I have meet and worked with fantastic people throughout the years who are not only colleagues but friends.
