SPECIAL PEOPLE
One year ago, after completing my degree (Bachelor of E-Commerce in Supply Chain Management), Mainfreight offered me the first step in my career at Mainfreight Transport Hamilton in the Customer Services Team.
One of my recollections from my first day was the words I saw on the wall as I walked into Mainfreight Hamilton - "Special People, Special Company". I wondered how special is it? During the year, I started to understand the unique Mainfreight culture.
Like all people starting a new job, I was keen to show my talent and knowledge. However, as an overseas student from a non-English speaking country, Customer Services was not as easy as I thought, especially communicating with customers over the phone.
I have now been in New Zealand for five years and have a strong desire to return home to China. To be able to work for Mainfreight in Shanghai I needed some knowledge of International Freight Forwarding as to date my experience has been within our Domestic business.
At the start of this year I was given a great opportunity to become part of the Air Freight Imports Team at MainfreightOwens International in Auckland. Since I have been at MainfreightOwens I have realised that it is easy for the team in China to find a person that can speak good English and communicate well but it will be very hard for them to find a person who understands Kiwis and the Mainfreight Culture. This is the person they need and this is the person I want to be.
I have only been with Mainfreight just over a year but I have been offered great opportunities to further my career. Indeed, Mainfreight is a special company. I now understand that whether you start at Mainfreight driving a forklift or as the receptionist, this is just your foot in the door. Start NOW because anything is possible at Mainfreight.
一年以前，在我完成电子商务学士学位物流管理专业后，我的第一份工作开始于客户服务小组在Mainfreight哈密尔顿运输分公司。 这是Mainfreight 让我在我的职业生涯中迈出了第一步。
还记得初来Mainfreight 上班的那一天，让我最印象最深的就是公司墙外的标语-“特别的公司，特别的员工”。 我好奇的想着，这是个怎么样地特别呢？然后在我工作的这一年中，我开始对Mainfreight这种独特的文化开始有所了解。
就像所有的人在刚开始工作的时候，我急切地想去展示我在大学里所学的知识与技巧。可是，作为一个来自非英语的国家，在客户服务交流方面，特别是通过电话交流，我意识到它并不我所想的那么的简单。
我已经来新西兰就五年多了， 我越来越有着强烈的渴望想回到我的国家中国。为了能继续在Mainfreight上海工作，我需要一些在国际物流方面的经验，毕竟之前我的工作经验只限于国内运输。
所以在这一年的年初，Mainfreight又给我了一个千载难逢的机会就是有幸加入奥克兰的Mainfreight国际物流公司航空进口部门。自重我加入Mainfreight国际部后，我渐渐地意识到在中国的Mainfreight，其实会非常容易地雇到一位能够用一嘴流利的英语去交流的员工，但是却很难得到一位既了解KIWI的文化而且还有新西兰Mainfreight文化的员工。这才是他们所需要的，也正是我想做到的。
我在Mainfreight虽然仅仅只有一年，但Mainfreight却一次次地为我职业生涯发展提供机会。的确，MF是一个很独特的公司，现在我终于明白了它的独特的文化，那就是在MF无论你的起点是铲车司机，还是接待员，你已经开始迈向了你职业成功的大门。因为在MF一切尽在可能。
